Yeah I agree...

And dont worry about digging up the story. I believe you.

I think all of us have certain things about our parents that have bothered us in the past or that maybe have gotten someone teased.

My Dad was a cop and I got picked on every so often because of that. Some people have overweight parents. Some kids have to deal with divorces that they end up getting teased about. Some kids have parents in jail, and some kids have gay parents.

No matter what there is going to be something that is hard for a kid to deal with and he takes some crap for it from other kids. But I imagine like most of the rest of us they are able to adjust to it.

I just feel bad for these kids because it really should be such a non issue.

No I dont think its the parents fault, but with the sort of views that our society has it clearly has got to be hard on the kids.

Im not saying we shouldnt allow gay couples to be parents, im just saying that I guarantee its hard on those kids.
im sure lifes hard for kids who are taught to denounce science in the name of god. thats why many of them get home schooled and get isolated from the outside world. then you get stuff like polygamist compounds and such. jesus camps.

Well thats the extreme of it.

The worst part though is the effect that it actually has on our nation as a whole.

The rest of the world quite frankly is kicking our butt when it comes to education. Most notably in MATH and SCIENCE. It is also a well known fact that when it comes to advanced nations we are quite simply THE most religious nation.

So put 2 and 2 together and you see where the problem lies. While we are busy worrying about outdated moral NON issues that people here make a big deal about, even though they stem from religions that CANNOT be proven, we have people in so many other nations actually living MORE free, doing better in the classroom and like I said they are quite frankly kicking our American butts in the classroom and that then translates to worker productivity, creative thinking, new ideas, science, disease prevention and cures, engineering, mathematics and just so many different areas.

While we are worried about whether or not we should allow gays to marry each other we are missing opportunities to focus on things that are actually important.

I actually used to be a Conservative....Just as recently as like 2 years ago. The constant "moral" b.s. that they kept preaching though instead of focusing on real issues got me to studying and I found that our "moral values" are all derivative of religious teachings that are outdated and pretty much phony.

Im sure they will be just fine...

They can just smoke some pot to ease their minds, then take their gay lover out to a date at the movies, watch a replay of Brokeback Mountain and live happily ever after.

lol.....Im j/k btw, im in support of gay marriage, just trying to be humorous.

Can anyone come up with a single NON-RELIGIOUS reason why gays shouldn't be allowed to wed?

And what if the two people don't believe in GOD? What if they are Buhddists? Atheist? Satanist? Let's take it even further, what if their church says its ok? Your entire span of reasoning only holds water in the context of your religion.

Using Religion as a means to deny another person or group of people the right to live their lives how they choose is nothing short of Oppression. The simple fact of the matter is, that not everyone believes as you believe. Does that make their religion or lack thereof, any less valid?
