There have been some questions that I've wanted to ask a knowledgable Christians, hopefully people here can give me some answers.

1. What happens with those who have never heard of Christ, such as isolated tribesmen in Africa? My understanding is they go to purgatory. But why are they denied heaven for something they had no control over?

2. Many people I've talked to say that certain sections of the bible are meant to be interpreted literally and others metaphorically. Who determines which ones are which?

2b. If it's done by the individual reading it, then what's wrong with interpreting the whole thing as metaphorical? And would that mean you could be a Christian without believing in God?

3. If the bible's message is truely one of loving and peace, why do so many passages seem to deal with who we should hate?

4. About what percentage, roughly, of people in the world do you believe are denied enterence to heaven?

5. If God made Adam and Eve and the world perfectly, why did it contain sin (Adam and Eve disobeying God)?

6. If the universe needs to have an origin, why doesn't God?

7. If God created us in his image, what does God look like?

1. If they have lived a good, righteous life, they go to heaven.

2a. The Catholic Church has determined what parts of the Bible are meant to metaphorically and which is literally. The individual can then put a meaning to the passage.

2b. You kinda need to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of Man.

3. The teachings of Jesus Christ are of peace and love. The violence is normally seen in the historical books. These tell of the Jewish history and are not really the words of God.

5. God did not make creation perfect, he made it good. Besides, the Biblical prehistory ie creation story, tower of babel, noah's ark, is considered to be metaphor.

6. God is not bound by the constraints of the universe and is timeless

7. Unknown. One cannot look on God without dying

I will not claim to be an expert, but here goes anyway.


Different parts of Christianity see this differently. I personally believe the verse that says. It is better to have never known him, than to have known him and turned your back (or something to that effect). Kind of like saying, if they never knew him, but lived a Christian life, then they will be accepted.

You are. Be it through aid of your preacher, or priest, or simply on your own thought and prayer.

Well if you do not believe in Jesus then you really are not a Christian are you?

Because there are things that have been added over time to suit a powers needs or wants. That is why you study the history of the bible, and know where it came from.

Once again, that depends on the denomination, and what you believe. Once again, if you have never known him, but live as him then it is not your fault, and you are given a chance to repent. But this is a belief that no one has the answer to. We all think we have the right religion. Maybe everyone is right, maybe no one is right. You just do the best you can to follow it.

Because God gave Adam and Eve free will.
