Simple Question

What does 'thread continuity' mean?

I notice that at least two of my posts in the Abortion forum have been removed, not for personal attack, but for this 'thread continuity' thing. I'd just like to know what that means, so I may edit my posts if necessary so a Mod doesn't have to.

It usually means that a post above yours has been edited or removed and your post quoted it or replied directly to it.

Oh, I see. Can the Mods not simply edit a post and delete part of the message they do not want shown, rather than delete the entire post?

Depends on the post. If I delete the original post, chances are I will delete replies but not necessarily. If you have a question about a specific post, you'll have to link to it.

Sorry, I just came across this thread, and I believe I am the one who edited your posts for thread continuity.

12th's explanation basically covers it. One of your posts was a response to a personal attack against you. If I removed the entire personal attack and left your commentary, your post would not have made any sense. Sometimes it happens like that. Usually we have to go through every post after the one that initially needs the edit to 'clean' the thread. In doing so, sometimes there are responses that deal only with the problematic aspect of the edited post>>>Those ones usually get soft-deleted. Hope that made some sense! Feel free to PM me with the link to your post if you want to discuss this more.

i have a quick question. whats up w/ reputation? how come i cant change other peoples but they can change mine? just curious.

I'd like to know more about the rep system as well. I remember being told something to the extent of you had to have a certain number of credits before you get another green blob...when someone reps you, does that give you more credits that is past a limit to give you a blobby? How come rep doesn't increase when someone posts and racks up credits?

You can theres a scale weighing kind of thing at the top right of every persons post. Click on it and a window opens were you can choose to give that person a rep comment. But don't forget to leave your name!
