Religious people should make the laws? Meaning the Church.

Are you serious, or are you joking? I am not sure if this is simply a joke directed at another member.

Which is a shame, I agree, but the changes for the better already made here since we got rid of that creep Howard give me a great deal of optimism for our future.
Agreed.

Though I am curious as to why KRudd didn't go all the way and permit gay marraige too. He is a religious person - but I doubt that that is the reason, he is definitely not a fundamentalist nutbag. Is he just playing the numbers and trying to please everyone?

Still - he keeps kicking goals. Such a breath of fresh air after those last pack of bastards. Let's hope he keeps up the good work

I believe it was a thing with the Christians that he promised not to go all the way to marriage. Although he could easily do it if he wanted, the Christian lobby in Australia is small and not very influential, it's not like America.

Promises can be broken, if Rudd breaks his promise and allows gay marriage, I don't give a toss what the Christian lobby will think or say. They have no business in politics, anyway.

I've never seen a study saying that, but I'm not surprised. Cognative dissonance is a powerful thing. When something confuses you on a deep level, you end up having to hate it.
