Default Does the U.S. Government Need More Taxes?

U.S. receipts have grown almost 13 fold since 1970, while spending has grown just over 13 fold since 1970. Problem is, household income has only grown at half that rate. Obviously, the U.S. Government needs to curtail spending.

America is not a Socialist country, this is why the only democrats who ever win, are democrats who SOUND like Republicans (Hello Bill Clinton - Low taxes, Free Trade, Welfare Reform, Era of Big Government Over - Sounds Republican).

Exactly. The issue isn't lack of taxation, it's lack of spending control.

Well, that isn't exactly monopoly money the Bush administration has been spending in such profligate fashion.

How does one raise the funds for money already spent WITHOUT taxes?

I think both sides have equal blame on how our tax monies have been misused

You can't cut taxes all day long and it doesn't matter if you aren't cutting spending drastically.

Of course you can cut taxes all day long. I suggest cutting a billion from the armed forces each and every day.

I say we cut Welfare, medicare, the prescription drug benefit, PBS, and National Endowment for the Arts, then spend billions more on the military.

I also think we need a 51st and 52nd state. Canada is useless so we should look toward Mexico - cheap labor and Venezuela - oil.

We spend far more on Social Services than we do on the Military. Besides that, the Charter of the Federal Government was to provide Security for the States. The States were supposed to take care of Social Issues, this is a Federal government that is completely out of control and spending on practically anything that anyone suggests.

I'm sure you would like us to do like Rome of old did and turn in our Swords for Plowshares, to ready us for destruction. This is a dangerous world we live in, and Military readiness is the price of peace.

Here is a complete argument for why there should be no more taxes for any reason whatsoever.

Why Obama's Policies Will Ruin the Economy
