Now for the real deal,

Click on the link above to get all the hyper links, I don't feel like doing all that over again.....

As for the Deficit, it's less than 20% of our spending, the biggest problem is that since the 1970's we've increased spending a bit over 13 Fold. While Net inflows of cash to the government has grown slightly less than 13 fold. I go into detail on there on my website.

As for the Poor in this country, Well there's an article here by the Heritage foundation
Here's some quotes from that Article:
* Forty-three percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage and a porch or patio.
* Eighty percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.
* Six percent of poor households are considered overcrowded; two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.
* The typical poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens and other European cities. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)
* Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 31 percent own two or more cars.
* Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.
* Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.
* Eighty-nine percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a more than a third have an automatic dishwasher.

Here's another one by the American Enterprise Online.

And then of course there's the in depth analysis done by the Swedish Think Tank Timbro, it's long at 49 pages, but one of he most eye opening things that I've read in a long time.

You can continue to live as you have with your head buried in the sand, or you can choose to open your eyes and take a peek at the links, but don't blame me if you can't sleep at night because your entire world view has just been shattered.

Basically, if every country in Europe, except your Money Center, Sweden were a U.S. State, you would be considered poorer than our 4 poorest states.
Sorry, not sure I understand your post. Are you claiming that the US economy is not smaller than even the economy of the 15 Euro-countries?

See Danish American's can't quite economic reality, in many ways there still stuck in the 19th century tariff mindset. Plus they are convinced there economy is the most important when in fact its far less so now than 20 years ago. Europe and China are more economically important than the states.

Well there are 2 main reasons that the collection of tax and spending has increased so dramatically since 1970

Firstly the USA spends more on its military and defense than ALL the other nations put together. That's a massive invoice for Congress to settle year in year out. Especially with the constant resort to violence via a non-diplomatic and militaristic US foreign policy agenda.

Secondly the US economy functions on the basis of MASSIVE CORPORATE WELFARE and FINANCIAL SUDSIDIES TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR. A massive bill that actually sacrifices the living standards of the Bulk of the US population.

And remember one critical thing about the US deficit. Its deliberatley designed to bankrupt COngress so as to prevent any strong social fabric developing in the USA.

In other words when the US government is broke it is further in debt and under direct control by the private financial institutions and private wealth and power centres,

"Government is the shadow cast by Big business" (Adam Smith)

GOD BLESS AMERICA

What is a Danish American? I thought one was either the one or the other.

I am pure Danish, by the way.

Does the U.S. Government Need More Taxes?

Only if we keep depending on professional politicians (AKA democrats and republicans) to fix anything!

Definitely some truth to that.

Default Read my lips...

The U.S. Government needs far less taxes. We already have a military that could kick the crap out of Aliens or Predator. And then there's our nukes...Fission, Hydrogen fusion, Neutron Bomb, Antimatter! We should be finished spending money on the military for 100 years, except for maintenence and manpower.
America would be safer and richer if we just gave every voter an assault rifle. This would also encourage voting!

No "development" is required. Just the production of sufficient amounts of antimatter. A bomb would be as simple as turning off the containment field. Currently the official story is that we cannot produce that much antimatter. But if we could, or if we were in the process, I very much doubt that the public would be informed. Such an "ultimate weapon" would surely be top top top secret.

The main impediment to large scale production, as explained by CERN's website http://livefromcern.web.cern.ch/live...rn/antimatter/ is the incredible inefficiency of antimatter creation (the way they are doing it there now). However, the same site also mentions that cosmic rays are a natural source of antimatter, so a space-based antimatter production facility would be very possible. The inefficiency of the process would be irrelevant when the power is all free to begin with.

YES!!!!!!!

EU Economy was USD 13.06 Trillion in 2006 and the U.S. was over 13.5 Trillion in 2006 (they're showing 13.84, but that was 2007 so I deducted 2.2% for growth.)

In addition, per capita GDP was $44,987 vs $29,900, meaning that U.S. output per person was an asounding 50% higher than the EU!

Also the U.S. continues to grow at around twice the rate of the EU almost EVERY year.

To top it off, 17% of the EU citizens live below the poverty threshhold, while only 12% of U.S. citizens live below the poverty threshold. To top it off, if we were to apply the same standard as the EU does for the Poverty Threshold, only 3% of our citizens would be living below the poverty line!

So YES, that's is why I was laughing so hard!

America is not a Socialist country, this is why the only democrats who ever win, are democrats who SOUND like Republicans (Hello Bill Clinton - Low taxes, Free Trade, Welfare Reform, Era of Big Government Over - Sounds Republican).
