Drawing, vision, creativity etc. are tools that a person might use throughout their personal or professional lives. Music is known to help kids who have trouble developing math skills. I agree... though I think math and semantics and the technical parts of music are left-brain things... But music theory allows you to use both the left and right sides of the brain (although I suppose it is theoretically possible to write a technically good song without any appreciation for aesthetics).
It's still a good idea to help kids develop the right sides of their brains to, as most art does... as well as the technical parts of them allowing creative use of the left side. The right side of the brain fuels creativity and emotion. A strong right brain provides the motivation for use of the left brain.
I believe (could be wrong) that in addition to artists, successful entrepreneurs have strong right-brains.
