There never was a multiracial candidate before, and Obama has portrayed himself as black, unlike many americans like him who insist on (more accurately) describing themselves as multi-racial. Obama though, no fool, realizes the maximum campaign advantages to himself in identifying himself as black to blacks, and black to the white liberal establishment, ironically adopting the jim crow edict that "one drop" of black "blood" makes you black. In fact, he is half black and half white.
