I might add that whenever the completely one sided pro-palestinian supporters chime in with their de rigueur laundry list of grievences, they omit any mention of the vast number of Jewish people clensed from Arab lands. By best accounts, something in the neighborhood of 700,000 Arabs were displaced for various reasons in the years surrounding the formation of Israel, but in these same years between 900,000 and 1 million Jews were displacedfrom Arab lands. What this represents is a winnowing of populations and a "tit for tat".

When the Palestinian supporters justify the murder of innocent Israeli civilians (and make no mistake, despite all the sputtering protests to the contrary, most do justify such murders), they do not apply the same rationalizations to the Jews who also have greivances. By their same rationalizations, Jews would have evey right to murder innocent civilians in all those Arab countries from which they were expelled.

The difference between the two refugee populations is that one set about the task of building new lives, and was accepted into new countries, while the other is in a state of perpetual revenge and was not accepted by its bretherin who simply view them as a propaganda device.

Very good post! What the Palestinians do not do well is negotiate. They conduct them selves much the same as all countries in that region. Negotiations by way of perceived or out right violence. I have gone on the record before as saying there will never be reconciliation in this region ...Ever!

The arabs were supplied by soviet technology that was similar to what we supplied Israel with. Even with superior numbers and similar technology, the Israeli forces still slaughtered the armies of the muslim nations. It is not the technology, but the commanders, so no matter what the Arabs throw at Israel, they will still lose because Israel has superior commanders

and you are welcome to believe that the only difference between the two armed factions is the calibre of their commanders. it will not happen in my time, but there will be a day in the not too distant future, when the oil rich arab nations, such as saudi arabia, will be forced by their people to fully equip the Palestinian freedom fighters (should the house of saud and the other arab leaders want to retain their leadership). once parity is established in weaponry, the greater numbers of the arab people will overwhelm the israeli military as it will have lost its advantage
the israelis understand this reality. that is the reason why they are so insistent that the arab world announce its accession to the right of israel to exist. otherwise, why is that so important to a nation which presently has overwhelming military superiority?
hamas and hezbollah also know this truth, which is why they refuse to give up the moral high ground and agree to recognize israel as legitimate. that way, when they turn the jews out of israel, they can rightfully declare that they only took back what was theirs. they lose that moral stand should they acknowledge israel's right to exist
no nation-building in the region will change this. there are only two paths. one side must decimate the other to prevail, or both sides must recognize that concessions must be made if they would have their peoples enjoy peace. neither people are advanced enough to recognize the legitimacy of the second option ... maybe they will grow into that ability before the first option is accomplished

By your logic, Israel should have been destroyed in 1948 when 6 arab nations attacked it. or in the yon kippur war,or in 1967. Every war Israel has fought has been when they are outnumbered and outgunned. Yet the brilliance of Israels commanders has devastated every attempt by the Arab nations to destroy it
