The description had nothing to do with Nazis. It was a general description of a cult. Yes, the Nazis had things in common with a cult... but so did Christianity when it was founded.
Just like both Jesus and Hitler are examples of a charismatic leader.

Simplifying this into "neo-cons equivalent to nazis" is like saying the above comment means I'm saying "Jesus is equivalent to Hitler"

Two different things can have the same classification in some dimension without being the same thing completely.
