I'm not sure that I believe that most of them don't have access. Unfortunately the article does not say that this factor was even examined in this study.

The study was done by an organization called salary.com. So, the participants would be the type of people who would go to a website where you plug in fields on your job title, education, experience, and area where you live and come up with a benchmark salary that you should be making. So, we're talking about people whose level of sophistication is substantially above that of your average ordinary garden variety run of the mill minimum wage burger flipper.
