Lol!
Dear freedomSeeker, who is this Shakir who translated the Quran?? I'm a Muslim man and I don't know him! and it's not enough to read the translation of the Quran, you must and need to read the translation of the meanings and explanation of Quran!
Muslim man can beat his wife with many conditions, not just like that, like you tried to tell people : the innocent wife beaten by her bad hasbund!!
BUT, man can beat his wife after using peacefull ways with her, he must first talk to her and ask her to stop doing something bad and she refuses, or he tell her to stop going to wrong places and she refuses to listen to him! when peacefull ways don't work man can beat her wife, but with conditions!!
Muslim man is not allowed at all, and he can never beat his wife in her face, and he can't beat her strogly, or violently! because the objectives of beating the wife is not to make her suffer but to make her stop doing or saying a bad thing that may make trouble to the family or cause the separation to her husband and then destroy the family!!
And, it's preferable for men to not beat his wife (from an arabic explanation of Quran [ الفروع 5/258 المبدع 7/215 كشاف القناع 5/210 ]).

Now let's take a look to the status of women in Christianity and Judaism:
•"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you." (Genesis 3:16)
•"If, however, the charge is not true and no proof of the girls virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her fathers house and there the men of the town shall stone her to death." (Deut. 22:20-21)
•"Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands, as unto the Lord...Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything." (Eph. 5:22-24)
•"Women should remain silent in churches. They are not allowed to speak; but must be in submission as the Law says." (I Cor. 14:34-35)
•"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner." (I Timothy. 2:11-14)
•"The head of every man is Christ, and the head of every woman is man." (New Testament: I Corinthians 11:7-9. 11:3)
•"Man is the image of God ... whereas woman reflects the glory of man. For man did not originally spring from woman, but woman was made out of man; and man was not created for woman's sake, but woman for the sake of man. (New Testament: I Corinthians 11:7-9)
•"I desire that women should adorn themselves modestly and sensibly ... not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire ... Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men; she is to keep silent. Yet women will be saved through bearing children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with modesty." (I Timothy 2:9-12,15)
•"It is shameful for a woman to speak in church. Wives should regard their husbands as they regard the Lord. Women are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home" (I Corinthians r+3 3-36)
•"How can he be clean that is born of woman?" (Job 15:14)
•"I find a woman more bitter than death; she is a snare, her heart a net, her arms are chains. No wickedness comes anywhere near the wickedness of a women. May a sinner's lot be hers." (Ecclesiastes 7:26-2
•"While it is possible to find one upright man in every thousand, it is impossible to find even one single upright woman in every thousand". ( Ecclesiastes 7:26-2
•"Woman is a snare, her heart is a trap, and her hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but she will ensnare the sinner". ( Ecclesiastes 7:26-2

WAAAWE!!! I don't advice women to marry a Christian man who won't convert out from Christianity!!! by the way I have more verses and information about women in Christianity and Judaism!!
