I don't know.... well, okay. But then, why is it a big deal?

I mean, that's pretty close to reality, right? It'll take "a long time" to leave? Even if we started "right now"?

I think, that's why those anti-war guys want to start "right now", isn't it?

Seems to me, that by not hooting and hollering about it, they're doing what both the Republicans and their own Democratic Party have asked them to do, which is to tone down the anti-war rhetoric and get a little closer to reality on that issue.

Seems to me, the issues around the war in Iraq have been adequately exposed to the public at this point, and most of the hype (from both sides) is probably falling on deaf ears these days. Where it still seems to gain occasional traction is in the grey areas, like "is the surge working"? We don't know yet, but everyone seems to have already jumped to a conclusion, one way or the other.

So yeah - I can see how this would be noticeable to somehow who identifies primarily as a political partisan, but I think it's probably an element of the Dems wanting to appear more "electable", and I think it's also an element of the anti-war left "quitting while they're ahead" ('cause the war-mongers have been given more than enough rope to hang themselves, and so far they're doing exactly that, and all the left has to do is wait, and watch while things get worse and worse).

Sorry, but that's reality....
