The answer to your question depends on what part of the US you are in and your overall level of maturity. It is clear that Saddam Hussein was no imminent threat to the US or its allies therefore not an essential part of the war on terror. It is equally clear that the US invasion has spawned more Islamic radicals and has provided radicals to use this opportunity to attack and embarrass the US military. I think the root of this debate is what is the war on terror? Has the US gov. defined what exactly is the war on terror? Is it an open ended umbrella statement such as the war on drugs or the war on hunger? Is the war on terror something that we can start and finish? I would be more careful about using the term "war on terror" since it only reinforces the Bush Admins. political marketing phrases and campaign points designed to draw attention away from what really matters.
