Americans are way down the list as donor nations.

You should be writing for World Nuts Daily, Whaler.
norway, luxemburg, switzerland, iceland, and denmark are ahead of the US in GNI.

but with a much smaller population base to draw from,
its not surprising they give a larger percentage.
but in world GDP the US is #1.
and in total dollar value of aid the US is #1.
if we gave the highest percentage we'd be giving like 100 billion a year in development aid.
screw that.
they should be developing themselves.

Thank You my good man!

Peacemaker, if you will go back and read Crabtree's site you will see that the statistics provided include giving by individuals. In the future, bolster your credibility by actually reading the links provided as a reference.

Hey, all I see is "Aid to Developing Countries" on your link. Surely there are charities that deal with other issues. And the second line of the article starts "It doesn't include aid distributed internally from rich countries to themselves, which biases the survey..."

Now, are you really trying to use this as proof of how charitable Americans are?

(Additionally, just to make a distinction, the scores are based on percent of Gross National Income, not overall dollars donated. Both are valid determinants of charitable donations, so if you want to prove the statement as false, both need to be considered or your argument clarified.)
