The pilots told The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot that only one or two of the 40 flights carried humanitarian aid, and one of those flights carried only 500 pounds of aid supplies out of a possible 7,000 pounds. Gene Kapp, vice president for public relations at the Christian Broadcasting Network, said the planes turned out to be unsuitable for medical relief and that Robertson reimbursed Operation Blessing for their use. "Without Mr. Robertson's generous overture, Operation Blessing would have incurred further expenses with its aircraft," he said. Roberts' wife is accused of spending tens of thousands of dollars on clothes, awarding scholarships to friends of her children and sending scores of text messages on university-issued cell phones to people described in the lawsuit as "underage males." It also says ORU employees are regularly called to the Roberts' home to do the daughters' homework, and a stable of horses is kept for exclusive use by the Roberts' children. ORU regents said an investigation is under way into the allegations.
