Default Political orientation "flags"

I vaguely recall chat about this before but can't seem to find it.

I think it would be useful for new members getting a feeling for the place.

And it might be popular with members. Some like to wear their affiliation on their sleeves here. Also, I'm a moderate Republican. You know, the type that, judging by McCain, is ascendant in the party at the moment. But I keep getting confused for a Dem by some of the superconsivative and anarcho-capitalist sets here.

Now if flags aren't reasonable how about just having a field? Like instead of listing your location and having that show you can enter an affiliation.

You mean something to show which party we follow?

I like that idea.

Right. Though I'm thinking something where you can write something in might be better as the mods wouldn't have to find a bunch of Icons and it'd let people write in stuff like

"Libertarian leaning but support government funded K-12 education" or whatever.

Also would be adaptable to other countries political parties.

What do you suggest be depicted on these flags as representations of Political views?
Not every participant here is a U.S. citizen, we shouldn't limit this to solely U.S. politics.
