Exactly what the government can do in regards to privacy is one thing. I and believe even in the Bush times you had to at least be calling outside the country to get flagged.

But beyond that it seems a bit unfair to be going after the telecom companies. At least not without some clear case that they knew they were really doing something wrong. Tapping phone conversations is something they do regularly and legally right? I don't know if they had any idea if FISA had authorized that stuff or not.

If something illegal happened sue Bush.

Well, if it was a problem before it shouldn't be now. Now you are aware that an anonymous computer is monitoring your line for key phrases. If you're uncomfortable with that, don't use the phone. The same way people uncomfortable with metal detectors don't use the airport.

And if you don't want to be scanned by spy sattelites, don't go outside. Of course the neo-con death cult thinks it's perfectly reasonable that our god-given rights to communicate with one another, travel, or even go outside should be monitored and scrutinized to the point where people stop excercising their rights at all. Classic "chilling effect".

The reason it is reasonable is because the masses can stop it whenever they want to. You are not living under some neocon dictatorship. If you dont like it, and you really are part of the majority, why arent you stopping us?
