Libertarians generally want to have their cake and eat it too. There are some sane ones (stekim being a good example) but most seem to think that society can just magically hold itself together without any sense of collectivism whatsoever.
The truth is that in order to have a society, it must be de facto collectivist.
The conservative way to do it is to have a very collectivist culture while the system itself is individualistic. The liberal way is to create institutional replacements for collectivism so that the individuals are systematically tied together.
Without some way to keep people together, society ceases to be a society.
