I take any comparisons to Carter as a compliment. If we had heeded his plan for weening ourselves off oil, we would not be facing huge gas prices today, and we would have no need to keep fighting wars in the Middle East for rights to their oil.

Amen. If you need to blame someone for our current predicament, it'd have to be St. Ronnie, who gutted Carters new technologies funding and told us to party like it's 1999.
