I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; only when the United States is in the right.

I think people may define "align" differently.
I get the feeling some people take it to mean "agree with".
Likewise I don't take alignment to mean mindless following, but I think some do.

The way I take it... I'd be aligning with my country by staying in it and working for change by legitimate means... as opposed to becoming an expat or an insurgent.

yeah,
i took 'align' to mean simply 'being on the side of'.
because, honestly,
i will usually defend America and American interests in any argument.
right or wrong.
unconditional loyalty.

Seriously...the rest of the world can kiss the USA's ass, as far as I'm concerned. Doesn't mean I hate 'em...just means that USA should always look out for #1, no matter what.

JMS - As usual, your threads are very relevant.

I would have put another choice up, though...

--- Conservative, I am loyal to my country, above all others, except when it violates my core moral values.
