.
I see people defending Bush and I can never figure out why. Here is an ex-drug and alcohol addict who would be pumping gas in a small Texas town had it not been for his family's wealth (of course, assuming that he lived through his tour in Viet Nam -- which he would not have been able to avoid).
Even with the most expensive education in the world, he bankrupted companies so badly that he started to instruct investors, in his companys' prospectuses how to write off investment loses. If it weren't for rich people who wanted influence with his father, all of his companies would have dissolved into nothing.
He used his connections to pervert the 5th Amendment's implied right of eminent domain to such a degree that he was successful in ousting families from their homes just so he could make millions.
I could go on, but I have written all of this before.
What I can't understand is how anyone can defend and root for this man to win in 2004. I know Kerry might not be much better, but the fact that I doubt he can be worse is enough for him to get my vote.
I really try to understand how Bush fans think, but even though I whack myself with a rubber mallot over and over to try to get into the right mind set, I inevitably become unconscious before I can get to the required state of mind.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the election in 2004, but I remember hearing once not to underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. So, I wait to see if Bush gets a second term while I look at a map to see where the well-dressed soldier will be "vacationing" next summer.
