It's a false dicothomy. You are assuming that because McCain is dull and boring that he is delivering "substance". Conversely, you are buying into the tired cannard that because Obama has a dynamic and eloquent speaking style that he lacks substance. Neither is correct.

I am assuming nothing. Please let me rephrase.
In the context of this thread (which is solely comparing the styles of the two candidates), I am trying to say that the style of the candidate is not as big a factor in me choosing him as the substance of his policies is. I will choose the candidate with the better policies whether or not he has a better style. I did not intend to make any inferences as to which candidate this might be.
The only way style comes into play is if the two candidates are identical or nearly so in their policies. If I agree with them, I will choose the one with more style because he is more likely to get them implemented. If I disagree with the policies, I will choose the candidate with less style because he is less likely to get them implemented.
You are the one making the assumptions.
