Default First The Great Seal, Now Declaration of Independence

Quote:
In a torrent of arrogance, Barack Obama simply cannot pimp out enough of our national symbols for his own self-aggrandizement. We already saw the cheeseball powder blue Great Seal, since shelved after being duly mocked, at least by those of us on the right.

Now we have Obama’s use of the Declaration of Independence to highlight his own hypocrisy on the issue of federal campaign funds. From his website earlier today (we figured we’d get the screenshot before it too goes down the memory-hole).

Yup, funding Barack Obama’s campaign by the 4th of July is clearly a signal event in American History.

Can’t wait for the fundraising photo of Abe Lincoln, sitting in his Memorial with an Obama t-shirt on saying “Emancipation for America - Vote Obama.”
Next he will be giving away a roll of US Constitution toilet paper with every $100 donation.

A piece of parchment that has "independence" on it hardly qualifies as a parody of the Declaration of Independence. Surely the graphic is supposed to subconsciously evoke recognition of the famous document, but I don't think this really qualifies as a defilement of an American icon.

He has to counter the image that is being portrayed through internet campaigns.
The use of classic American symbols is one ploy he is trying to use. What better way to look less like a Muslim, a main point being made in these viral e-mails I hear are being circulated, than to invoke the Great Seal and Constitution. It is all designed to make him seem more and more American. All in all I still think it could be worse. It is not that bad right now.
