Well, here is my argument against your argument/for death penalty. If Jesus was against the death penalty completely, then why did he choose to intervene on an adulterer. I believe that Jesus would have chose rape or murder if his point was to say that the death penalty was wrong.

Second, maybe you are not familiar with the Old Testament, but in Genesis 9: 6 it commands that humans kill murderers in God's Covenant with Noah.

Anticipating another argument, for those of you who say they can change, Although God does forgive, just because he forgives it does not mean no punishment exists.
