It doesn't take much reading up on Kosovo's history to realise that it has never naturally been part of any one Country - Serbia are mearly the most recent occupiers - The current population is ethnic muslim/Albanian and should be free to declare Independence if they wish - they were treated like dirt by the Serbians and until NATO prevented it there was genocide been carryied out by the Serbs against the majority population if they caused any "trouble".

We should support them in their desire to become Independent and ignore Serbian and Russian threats.

And you are being plane daft if you draw a parallel between Kosovo declaring Independence and Caliornia splitting from the US!
