The problem I have with the registry is that it is all inclusive. There are many people forced to register that have been convicted with obsolete or minor crimes. I know of two men in neighborhood listed with the registry in this situation. I've known these guys since we were kids.

The first was convicted of "flashing". His crime was urinating in his backyard at 2am.

The second was convicted of indecent liberties with a minor. He had sex with his girlfriend on his 16th birthday while she was still 15 for another 6 months.

These are cases that never should have been filed, let alone taken to trial. Now these men are convicted sex offenders, and have to deal with the stigma that comes with it. They have never posed a threat to anyone's children.
