Sickens me. This whole new topic is in response to the feed back left by the idiots who posted in this thread:
My big idea about saving the economy.
While you clearly didn't get it, let me try to put this into a simple and easy to understand way of thinking.
The point of Ethanol being used opposed to any other type of fuel is its end result. That end result is: it creates jobs for AMERICANS, and stops us from importing 1/4 of our GDP.
THE CAUSES WERE NOT:
- Greener ideals
- The fact it is not available yet means nothing.
- Ethanol is created out of a corn waste product anyways.
- I don't expect the government to do it for us, but I do expect them to put some money to pay for scientists.
Your stupidity is insane. I was not telling you it is ready now and that you should go out and buy it despite the fact it gets less mpg. I was saying, the end result is the best possible outcome.
If you still feel like a smart ass, consider this: if we adopted some form of gas as our power supply, it would not create anywhere near the amount of jobs that farming would. Electric has the same flaw, it provides no jobs and a number of generators still use gas, coal and oil to run, so it's not solving anything. The price of food might go up, but you may also pay 1$ for your gas, have any of you considered that we might just import some food? or maybe we could stop paying farmers subsidiaries for not farming.
We have more rich farm land than most any other country. The only thing holding this back is the 30% power decrease. After that it's totally open season for these companies that are able to provide it. That may not be a problem in the near future either, oil MAY double in price soon. If we don't figure it out before then, you're sure to see them coming into the market despite the possible stress on the food prices. that's how capitalism works.
