From a balanced pollster (i.e. not Rasmussen):
"Do you think the news media has been too easy, about right, or too hard on the presidential candidates?" On McCain: Too easy: 33% Too hard: 13% About right: 50% Net easy-hard = +20% On Obama: Too easy: 37% Too hard: 19% About right: 42% Net easy-hard = +18% On Clinton: Too easy: 21% Too hard: 30% About right: 47% Net easy-hard = -9% http://www.gallup.com/poll/107557/Pu...ma-McCain.aspx What's clear is that more Americans believe Clinton got the shaft than anyone. In Clinton's defense, she got hit just as hard as Obama, especially early on, but the Reverend Wright nonsense and ridiculous frenzy over "bittergate" alone evened the score. McCain, in contrast, has been the media darling from Day 1. So what's the difference between this and the recent Rasmussen poll? 1. Gallup is generally considered more impartial. Rasmussen is very conservative and has a questionable methodology, particularly regarding these types of questions. Their numbers are likely inherently inflated. 2. The Gallup poll was from a couple of months ago. The Rasmussen poll was conducted right as Obama was starting his overseas trip and McCain and certain media outlets were complaining about the coverage (doubtfull a mere coincidence the timing of the poll), something that would inevitably inflate those numbers further. 3. The Rasmussen poll asks a different question, regarding who they think individual reporters want to win, as opposed to Gallup's question regarding general media coverage (more relevant).

Even so, it's considerably more relevant than the Rasmussen poll (see above).
