I forgot I once wrote out a statement of belief, in case anyone wants to convert to the Divine Church of Catz Cosmic:
Quote:
I believe in kindness.
I believe i will someday die and that will be it. The only immortality I will have will exist in the memories of those who knew me, words I may have written, or any good deed I've done.
I believe in the human capacity for passion, ingenuity, creativity, genius, self-sacrifice and growth.
I believe in honoring my promises.
I believe in pushing people to grow, to evolve, to change, to think.
I believe in love...true love.
I believe in the arms of my children around my neck and their warm sloppy kisses on my cheek. I believe in story time...every night. I believe in late bedtimes on the weekend, breakfast in bed, and Saturday morning cartoons.
I believe in giving money to strangers and homeless people. I believe in giving my time to my children.
I believe in cooking large, grandiose and delicious meals on Sunday afternoons. I believe in large family gatherings, roast on Wednesday nights (with potatoes and carrots), and complete honesty.
I believe in working hard, doing work I like, and making a difference. I believe in slow dancing and wish I did it more, and in long, slow, tender kisses.
I believe in small government, good schools, and well-trained police officers.
I believe in fast internet connections, the divine spark which can occur instantaneously between two minds, thus creating a friendship which can last for years, and the human capacity for doing good.
I believe that most humans, contrary to Christian thought, are essentially good people who are doing the best they can, who sometimes make mistakes. I believe that the human capacity for destruction, cruelty, and hatred is overwhelmed by the human capacity for rebuilding, creating, love and heroism.
I believe in evolution, eating well, and hugging my kids several times a day.
I believe that most religious systems, at their root, encourage humans to live better and to connect with the divine spark which is in all of us.
I believe in honoring, protecting, and cherishing the earth and all wild places.
I just don't believe in arbitrary religious systems which attempt to demonize music, culture, literature, romance, sex, women, clothing, political views, races, genders, sexual preferences, or any other human characteristic which does no harm to anyone.
