If you could point out a large vocal demonstration made by many Muslims speaking out against violence such as that done in their name, please point this out. To blame the media for this wreaks of a cop out. Show us links made by Muslim leaders that speak out against fatwas calling for death of Americans or those of the west. Where's the voice of Islam that is against terror? Why wait on the media? Why not use the internet?

It's expected of Muslims but not, apparently, of other religious groups to apologize for the actions of it's extremists.
I'm a Christian who doesn't believe Dobson, Falwell, or Huckabee speak for me. I've denounced those who make silly statements about the AIDS epidemic, but I'll be the first to say that making unpopular statements about AIDS victims isn't quite the same as killing 3000 people on a single day in the name of Allah. Furthermore, we here in America have a concept called the freedom of speech. That is to say that we allow unpopular speech to be said in hopes that we too can speak our minds as well. We don't silence people in our society without very good reason. Being an unpopular voice isn't one of those reasons.

The Muslim community has a serious problem with public relations right now. You can try to point the finger at other things, but until moderate Muslims stand up against the radical factions in a big way there's going to be a lot more suffering in their future. The backlash now is going to pale in comparison to that of the future should their inaction allow more blatant attacks to happen.
