Of all the things you say, I find this to be the most compelling. I, on the other hand live in Idaho which is about as red a state as you can find. I've lived here for more than 30 years and have watched how the other end of the spectrum has served Idaho. As far as rural communities go, it appears that they have not been served well. It's really sad. Granted an undeniable part of this problem is globalization economics and not the fault of republican leadership, however they do bear responsibility for the deterioration of the family farm in favor of large business. They certainly bear responsibilty for underfunded primary and secondary education, and huge responsibilty for the immigration issues idaho is facing. It seems like there is a balance to be struck. No state is served well when it finds itself under-represented by the minority.
