Excellent point, now what we need is some information on the national parties situation in Serbia. This event, after all, pushes the fully socialist/radical parties away from the democratic ones. What tensions have there been between the parties in the past? How serious were they? What groups are affiliated with each party? (All this should have been taken into account of our ministry of foreign affairs before we ok'd Kosovar independence)
Serbia is deeply divided. Some people speak of two Serbia's: one that is democratic, that wants to join the EU, that looks toward the future, and the other one that is conservative, isolated, abandoned by the world.

The second Serbia (the isolated one) is represented in Serbian Radical party (the single strongest party in Serbia). "The Serbia of the future" has the majority of voters, but those voters are divided, because there are many democratic parties in Serbia, and they always form coalitions in order to prevent the radicals of winning elections.

The strongest democratic party is the Democratic party (the party of assassinated prime minister Djindjic, and the party of current president of Serbia Boris Tadic)

The second strongest democratic party is the Democratic party of Serbia (the party of current prime minister Vojislav Kostunica). This is the party of the "right center", but indeed very close to the radicals in terms of nationalism.

The other small parties do not have major significance, but they are useful when forming coalitions against the radicals.
