In jobs where sex doen't factor into job performance (strength, durability), there should be equal pay.

(As a side note, no company that I or my wife have ever worked for has offered materinty pay. Materinty leave was unpaid and counted against the FMLA. Paid leave would be nice.)

Now jobs where sex does factor into performance, pay should be based on performance. I work as a HVAC technician; it requires a good deal of intelligence (many companies now require degrees), but it is also very physically demanding. I have worked with several women in this trade, and while their skills were top-notch, they could not do the job alone. They had to have help moving tools, parts, equipment.

With the added cost a helper, they cannot match the performance, or profit, of a male technician.
