It isn't all politicians by any stretch. I think most that do oppose guns are doing it for votes, or, especially useful, scapgoating them for complex issues they don't want to deal with.


For example in Philly a couple years back some drug dealers got into a running gun battle outside the school and wound up shooting a little boy. Of course despite over a hundred people being present over an exteded battle nobody saw anything.

The politicians answer? Guns are bad. I'll try to solve the problem by restricting gun rights. See it seems like they're doing something. Instead of addressing the obvious issues there that they have no idea how to deal with.
