I don't think that "so many" Americans still seriously believe that Germans are still affected by Nazi-ideas. I've made strange experiences too, when people (only very few though) in the US and Britain walked up to me and "saluted" me in strages ways and parroted stuff they had picked up in Indiana Jones-movies the other night. Of course this made me feel rather uncomfortable, I did figure however, that they were only trying to make a joke and weren't being serious. They simply don't know how afflicted Germans still are about this topic, people over here are literarally paralyzed concerning this shameful chapter of German history. Nazi-jokes are avoided in Germany so we don't really know how to react when confronted with them. The way that we deal with the countries history is probably not the healthiest one, I wish we could deal with it in a less uptight way, then we probably wouldn't feel affronted so easy.
Ok, an American woman once asked me, if Hitler still was Germanys Chancellor - that was kinda strange, since she clearly wasn't joking. But she probably wasn't the brightest star on the firmament.

As I already stated, I disbelieve that a whole lot of Americans are still falsely linking Germans with Nazi-ideology, but the ones who do, clearly wouldn't change their minds when they read some of Skeptikos Examiners views. But oh well, that isn't the topic - I'm just saying...

btw: I experienced Russians having a much "harder" time in the US, since there are circling some pretty bad Commie-jokes.
