1. Your country is run by a Supreme Leader elected by mujtahids. Wouldn't you rather live in a democracy than a theocracy?
2. Iran is second in the world in natural gas reserves, and third in oil reserves. Do you really think anyone is going to believe your uranium enrichment plants are just to produce fuel for nuclear reactors for energy?
That would be like saudi arabia importing sand, because it doesn't believe it has enough.
