That is a distortion - the people only get to vote on a list of mujtahids

NOT democratic. Furthermore, the president can only be elected from nominees
approved by the council of guardians, who in turn are
appointed by the Supreme Leader. You have a sham democracy. The Supreme Leader doesn't have to interfere, if everyone in government has been either directly or indirectly approved by him.
