Since it was brought up a couple pages ago the US does have a hard time understanding the Balkans and middle east.

Or rather we understand it to be composed of people who either through race, religion, or culture can't get along and will generally start killing each other when given the opportunity.

Though you did give us the term "Balkanization" which has proven useful in describing things with programming languages and other contexts.
