The UN is good for it original core intent..A meeting place of major powers to try to avoid conflicts between each other. In that regard its worked pretty well.


But its morphed into this huge organization that for the most part vacillates.
Its primary use now seems to be to delay reactions..which can be good but are just as often bad.

Americans generally oppose the UN for the same reasons they opposed joining the League of Nations. American inherently believe they are capable of making their own decisions... thank you very much... without the approval of other nations.


Any organziaton no matter what its intentions will be used by those that play in it to their own advantage.
