The pope, isolated at the vatican, has no basis for criticizing the US - he's basically detached from the real world. His correct purview is to preach the basic principles of Christianity - he can do that with great authority. But when he tries to hold forth on the nuts and bolts of politics and its extension - war - he is out of his league.
