How about the idea that the acceptance of gay people causes social disaster?

Adamant anti-abortion people are just as nutty in the eyes of most Americans.
It's funny how all the example you stated above are not part of the mainstream of republicanism, or a major part of their platform.

Also, part of the intelligent design theory is to in some way tie the science of evolution into the idea that the science is in itself God's instruments in achieving his design.

Is a constitutional amendment against gay marriage part of the republican platform? I don't think it is; I could be wrong on that. I do think that it may just be a matter of defending the institution of marriage. That would be putting a limit on government into intruding upon peoples religious beliefs.

Republicans accept gay people. Even this forum has members who are gay republicans. I don't think there is strong support amongst republicans that acceptance of gay lifestyles will lead to a major disaster of some sort.

As for adamant anti-abortion people, that would describe the majority of the Republican Party, however, any militancy especially of the violent type, is strongly condemned by republicans. The throngs of militant pro-abortionists are not only a major influence in the Democratic Party, they belong to the leadership.
