I don't think one can discount all of the peaceful muslims. Certainly there are a lot of them in the US.

The difference is that we're currently trying to do a "win the hearts and minds" thing not a proper hard fought war. When things come back to nation vs nation fighting we get the civilian casualties again. Ask some of our local Serbs. Though we didn't get to the point of firebombing and all that, but that wasn't needed at all and in that case probably would have been mass murder.
