Flew in to Telluride a couple of years ago on a twin prop, about the same story. Flying out, we were loaded with skiers and their gear. The pilot backed all the way up and started accelerating before he even turned on to the runway. I was in the window seat right next the the left prop. Man, those things produce some power! The runway runs right of the edge of the mountain. He hit it wide open, the plane dropped a bit before recovering. I loved it, my wife was scared to death.
