You are very naive, have you ever been in Germany? Freedoms in Americans are still, at least partly, protected by the constitution. Your forefathers were wise and did a lot good for you! In Absurdistan it's different, we don't even have a constitution and are ruled by a regime without international legitimacy since the end of ww2. We only have a "Grundgesetz" (basic law) which is the occupation law the people never agreed on. Behind the empty rhetoric of democracy we are still an occupied country with an illegitimate government, a disarmed and disposed population, and around 60.000 occupation troops still occupying the country.
In Socialist regimes truth is always the first victim because those kind of regimes are usually build upon lies and truth thus endangers the very foundation those kind of regimes are build upon.
