I'm a 39 year old auto tech in the NE Georgia mountians. I'm married, one son. A little over a year ago I started my own business, so far so good. I'm not making money hand over fist by any means, in fact I'm not even on the payroll yet. But I'm an honest guy, and people are starting to figure out that they can come here for quality work and not get ripped off. I'm an L1 ASE Master, have been in the business for 21 years now. If anyone needs technical advice on cars, I'm the guy to ask. I like to help folks out when they are doing their own repairs, and can tell you when to take it to a pro.
Politicly I'm a Republican, I voted for Romney in the primaries. I want fiscal responsibility and no amnesty. Looks like I'm out of luck this time around. In my spare time (an oxymoron for a new business owner) I'm an avid hiker. The Appalachian Trail is right here in my back yard, which is nice. We don't consider it a serious day of hiking until we've covered 16 miles, 20 mile days are not unusual.
I have met other people on forums in real life, they can back me up on this. I am the same person on line as I am in real life. I have no need to make my life any more interesting than it really is by embellishing. I have a strong interest in seeing other people start businesses and succeed, and have recently helped to start a group for this in our area. One of my friends is in the process of buying the business he works for (should close in a couple of weeks), and I'm helping another guy with beginning stages on a new business now. If we have any other business owners or potential business owners here, feel free to ask questions if you have them. My area of expertise is in business structure. If I don't have an answer, I won't lie or make one up. It's not like I know it all. In fact, I suck at marketing. But I did a lot of research before starting this business, and am in the process of starting a second unrelated business that is a nation wide LLC with four partners. I wrote the operating agreement last fall, and am looking to launch is by the end of summer. The auto shop was built to be my retirement, this other one is a cash cow. Hopefully by this time next year I'll never have money problems again. Ever.
That should be about enough for now. See you around.
