What's wrong is the overall break down of how America as society perceives its responsibilities. We have parents who don't care and are not involved. We have a large influx of students who are not disciplined and do not care, partly due to their parents. We have media that glorifies sex, violence, and drugs over anything that could be considered moderately intelligent. How many kids are raised by a single parent? How many parents divorce and go their separate ways? We live in a broken culture that wants to blame all their problems on someone else. Parents blame teachers, teachers blame salaries, kids blame the teachers. If people are going to continue to play the blame game, this will only get worse. A parent who complains about their son or daughter's inability to read, needs to remember that if they can read, they should be doing something about it. What does it say about parents now a days who let their children get that far in life as a dummy?
