You obviously have not seen the many instances of blatant abuse of social welfare by the people who were granted it. Subsidized housing leads to individuals who choose to meet the criteria of more subsidized housing like their parent(s), and in most cases mother. The tax credit for children resulted in individuals having more kids from just about anyone to boost their check. If you look at the statistics for the Earned Income Tax Credit, it is proven that people who use this program tend to adjust their work hours so they make maximum gain from the system. These people would either work the same number of hours or cut back for larger tax credits and more free time on their hands. If that doesn't spell abuse, I don't know what does.
The welfare system has been failing for some time now.
