Those are my thoughts on the subject, as I say the alternative is rather bleak.
Busy bees attending to the hive do a fine job without God, without faith, without self-awareness of their eventual demise.
We are not bees.
We have been endowed with a gift from Nature/Evolution/Chaos/God...whatever you want to call it.
Cognition.
We are able to ponder our own existence and it's eventual demise.

If the truth of the Universe and our reality is that we are an insignificant speck and that we have no future in relation to the longevity of the Universe, then (ignoring the fact that people do already understand this and lead happy and socially productive lives) why is it that we can ignore that in favour of a religious or God/s...yet cannot ignore it in favour of non-religious meaning.
If it can be ignored, why would we solely need a divine or supernatural idea to ignore it with? Especially, as ive noted, that people can already understand such an existence with no religious or supernatural convictions to pander to their fears or egos.
