The state cannot promote a particular religion but that in no way implies that every mention of God in public life must be eradicated.

I have no problem with people praying to whoever they want or displaying their faith in public settings, including in schools. If a kid wants to talk about or pray to Jesus, Muhammad, Krishna, Budda, the Devil, or Zeus then that is their right. The same goes for politicians. The Islamics, Athiests, and the Moral majority as well as their offspring just have to deal with it.

These things are not the establishment of religion but rather an acceptance of religion. The two are not the same.
